Olive Variety DNA Analysis Support
In Spain, the world's largest producer of olive oil, there is a great effort being carried out by national and state agencies to study olive cultivation and olive oil production.
One of these institutes is the DNA analysis of olive varieties.
There are many olive varieties in the world that have been crossed without consideration and it is not known whether they are really of that variety or not.
Are your olives really the original variety?
Identifying varieties is very useful for producers. Knowledge of the characteristics published by the Spanish public institutions facilitates the cultivation and extraction of oil and guarantees the quality of the product to the customer. The distribution of variety-certified olive trees is also a factor in preventing the spread of disease.
A variety certificate is issued when a variety is certified by the Spanish public institutions.
(Please note that it will not be possible to identify the variety if it is not in the database of the public institution).
